One of the projects that Freedom to Learn has facilitated is Conversations in Kullu. A development project that enabled students at the Himalayan Buddhist Cultural School to learn more about the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child and to explore what this charter means in relation to their own lives and experiences. The project was co-ordinated by FTL trustees, India and UK based development facilitators and head of the School Palki Thakur. Conversations in Kullu worked with children aged 13 and 14 yrs and used the mediums of drama and video. The project was also used as an opportunity to train local Tibetan teachers in facilitation techniques so they can continue to run workshops where children learn to work together as a team, explore rights and responsibilities, and become more confident in articulation and advocacy skills.
