Partnering with the renowned ethical and social tourist agency Social Tours (see Your Team for more information) this meaningful journey through Nepal blends cultural discovery, natural beauty, and purposeful giving. It begins in Kathmandu with spiritual visits and a deep dive into Nepal’s twin philosophies—Hinduism and Buddhism—followed by time in Bhaktapur and reflection at Namobuddha. In Panauti, connect with the heart of Freedom to Learn’s work, meet the community, and share your skills.
After a pause to reflect, head west to the hills of Dhampus and Astham, before relaxing in lakeside Pokhara with options like hiking, paragliding, or paddleboarding. Then it’s on to the jungles of Chitwan for wildlife safaris, birdwatching, and village visits. A special breakfast with elephants closes the nature chapter before returning to Kathmandu for souvenir shopping and a farewell dinner overlooking the city lights in Kirtipur.

Day 1
Arrive in Kathmandu and settle into your hotel. In the evening, take a sunset walk up to Swayambhu Stupa – spin prayer wheels, enjoy valley views, and feel the calm. End the day with a delicious local dinner, sharing first impressions and setting the tone for a meaningful journey ahead.

Day 2
Start the day with guided visits to Pashupatinath and Boudhanath, two sacred sites that show how Hinduism and Buddhism shape life in Nepal. Hear stories, witness rituals, and ask questions. Later, gather for a deep trip briefing – go over the journey ahead and how it supports Freedom to Learn.

Day 3
Spend the morning exploring Bhaktapur with a local guide – walk its ancient lanes, see artisans at work, and learn how tradition shapes daily life. In the afternoon, drive to the quiet town of Panauti and stay at a local homestay. It’s a peaceful place to relax and enjoy local culture – perfect for reflection before the next leg of the journey.

Day 4
Spend the day in Panauti, where Freedom to Learn works closely with the local community. Visit their learning centre, meet the children and families, and see the impact up close. Take time to listen, understand, and – if you can – share a skill or story. It’s a day of true connection.

Day 5
Take a slow day to rest, reflect, and take in all you’ve seen so far. Enjoy the peaceful surroundings of Panauti including Panti Community Kitchen as featured recently on BBC’s Race Around the World. Join open conversations with trip leaders to go deeper into the journey’s meaning – how travel, learning, and giving are connecting in powerful ways. Let the insights unfold naturally. There will be options for mountain biking through the rice paddies, or hiking in the lush Himlayan foothills.

Day 6
Fly to Pokhara and drive to Dhampus, a beautiful hill village with stunning mountain views. Those feeling adventurous can hike up from the base – a rewarding 2.5-hour climb through forest and fields. Settle into a lovely resort in the village and soak in the peaceful charm of rural Nepal.

Day 7
Today, choose your pace. Hike along the scenic ridgeline to Astham – about 4 hours of gentle ups and downs with mountain views – or take a direct drive to Pokhara for a relaxed day. Either way, regroup in Pokhara by evening and enjoy the lakeside vibe at your own rhythm.

Day 8
Enjoy a free day in Pokhara. Rest and relax by the lake, or pick your adventure – take a guided city tour, try paragliding with epic mountain views, go mountain biking, or paddle board on Phewa Lake. It’s your day to recharge or thrill yourself – do as much or as little as you like.

Day 9
Drive from Pokhara to Chitwan, watching the landscape shift from hills to the lowland jungle. Settle into your lodge, then head to the river beach for sundowners. Sip a cool drink as the sun dips behind the trees – perfect ending to a day of travel and transition into the wild.

Day 10
Start the day with a peaceful canoe ride along the river – watch for birds, crocs, and maybe even a rhino. After lunch, head deep into the jungle on a long jeep safari. Explore Chitwan’s rich wildlife and soak in the thrill of being surrounded by nature at its wildest.

Day 11
